Our school in Paulerspury is an integral part of the community and I am grateful that my son was able to attend our village school from Reception through to Year 6, much like I did. Albeit I grew up in a very rural part of West Cornwall. As one of the 42 children in my village school I knew every other child and this ‘family’ ethos is a key feature of how our school in Paulerspury operates and how welcoming it is to children and families.
As a child at school, it never occurred to me that one day, as an adult, I’d be the person standing by the board at the front of the class. After school I did a Fine Art degree and subsequently, an Art Teacher’s Diploma, qualifying as a teacher in 1975. However, life and circumstances dictated that the first half of my working life was spent in Financial Services, ultimately bringing me into this area when my employers opened a new Head Office in Milton Keynes.
I resurrected my teaching career in 1997, in Milton Keynes and subsequently taught at a wide range of mostly large Junior, Middle and Secondary schools in Milton Keynes and Northampton. My teaching career ended at Paulerspury in 2020 and I continue, as Chair of Governors, to have a great deal of affection for the school, the pupils and staff. They are a delight and privilege to work with.
